Great service and love restaurant ambiance! So cozy and beautiful! We enjoyed every dish. Everything tasted great. Only minor complain the oyster was too small but still fresh!
I've tried about a half dozen of the wine bar restaurants in the metro area and like them all. This, however, is definitely my favorite. Every bite of food was perfect, the wine was excellent, and the service was impeccable. I'd describe the atmosphere as trendy affluent.
I've been to Olive + Oak a few times and have somehow never gotten around to reviewing! It is one of my favorite restaurants in St. Louis, and one of the best places to go for a special occasion or celebration dinner! The restaurant is super open and pretty, and can seat a lot of people. I try to make reservations but I went last Friday and two of us were able to get a table around dinner time. Service is always perfect - super attentive and knowledgeable. Menu is always changing! I've had a few different appetizers, never disappointed. I LOVE the bread and butter! Cocktail menu is extensive and I always try something new and unique. For dinner, I've gotten the dip every single time. It might be my favorite sandwich in all of St. Louis and the au jus is PERFECT. I also think they have some of the best fries, the seasoning is amazing and they are so crispy! Could not recommend more highly. I've had those with me order the cowboy ribeye before and the smash burger and everyone has loved everything. I cannot wait for my next visit!!!
Olive and Oak is my go-to spot for happy hour, and I can't say enough about the bartenders--they're excellent! They always make me feel welcome and know just how to mix the perfect drink. The ambiance at the bar is cozy yet lively, and the service is top-notch. Highly recommend stopping by for a drink; it's always a great experience!
What a great restaurant. Really cool ambience. Friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. Excellent cocktails. Good list of draft beer options. And most importantly, the food is excellent. Literally everything we tried in our group was outstanding. Apparently, their menu changes frequently so if you go back, you may find new offerings. From the appetizers, the charred octopus, and the cheese curds were amazing. Highly recommend. For my entrée, I had the flank steak, which was excellent. Cooked to perfection medium. Also had a side of the roasted cauliflower which was also delicious. For dessert I had the Sunday Sunday. What a great way to cap off tonight. I can't wait to come back to try some of the other menu items.
Service was amazing, ambiance beautiful. We sat in the back room for a quieter experience. Delicata squash, cauliflower wild rice soup, and the wings were the stars of the table. The burger came in second, the fries are amazing. The cabbage was a little too salty and rich for my personal taste preference. The Rockefeller oyster was SO good, it had a nice crust of breadcrumbs on top, with a savory pesto like sauce underneath. The fire roasted oyster was also solid, no breading, but a rich red sauce. My cousin said the regular roasted oyster was amazing and better than the Rockefeller. Cocktail #190 was amazing, perfectly balanced flavors, not too sweet or too alcohol forward. My mom and cousin did not like the kale salad but if you like strong smoked flavor, you may like it. I was not a fan of the carne asada (it's seasonal), the cut was high quality but it did not have enough flavor. If you like steak as it is without a lot of seasoning, you will probably like it. Chimichurri that came with the carne did not have enough oil and was vinegar heavy. The potato hash was too mushy and oily, not enough texture. The slaw that came with the carne was solid.
One of the best parts of celebrating a big event is the food that pairs with it. Olive + Oak has been on my list and I was so excited to start my evening off here! My partner and I sat at the bar and enjoyed a cocktail each accompanied by a corn fritter. The cocktails were very well made and I'm excited to go back and try the rest. The corn fritter was the perfect shareable size. It had great flavors that were combined for a really nice experience. Definitely coming back to try out more of the menu! Also the ambiance is great and the bar staff was very kind :)
Olive + Oak has been on our list for a long time. We got the reservation about 6 weeks before. We really wanted a Friday night. I love the busy, noisy atmosphere. It's not so loud you can't have a conversation with your date. They have big windows and the ceiling is tall. The service was good. She was knowledgeable of the menu and asked about any dietary restrictions. We ordered the peppers to start and really enjoyed them. The table bread was great. The whipped butter was nice. My boyfriend has heard great things about the burger and he loved it. The fries were amazing. I had the Sweet Potato entree and it was incredible. It was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I cleaned the plate. At lesser restaurants vegetarian options are often bland. We loved our dinner and the overall experience. We will return!
Olive & Oak had some of the best service that I've experienced at a restaraunt in St. Louis. This is definitely the place to go for celebrations or special occasions. They are known to change their menu every day, which means that each visit will provide you with a unique dining experience. The inside of the restaurant is bright & lively, which is nice to see for upscale dining. To start off the meal we ordered the #42 and #59 for cocktails. Both were great but the #42 was very strong, as the main flavor profile was green onion. For appetizers we ordered the blue crab gratin (would recommend) and our server provided us with complimentary shishito peppers, which was super nice. The shishito peppers turned out to be our favorite dish of the evening! We also ordered two of the oysters and we would definitely come back to try more. For entrees we got the Sesame Ginger Cod and the Carne Asada. The Cod dish definitely needed a little more sauce or spice to dress it up. The Carne Asada was amazing and the tomatillo salsa complimented it perfectly. We also got the Popper Peppers as a side and the cheese sauce was yummy. To wrap up the night, we ordered the Brownie Cola Pie. It was the perfect not too sweet dessert and we finished the entire dish. We were also given complimentary champagne and a candle on top since it was my birthday.
Overall a really good place and nice setting although inside is a little loud, we sat outside instead. The food was tasty but nothing super special. If you like octopus, I highly recommend getting the charred octopus to start! The butter was also flavored really nicely, the sourdough was not warm though. Our server was really nice, still came out to check on us even though we were outside. I think it's a nice place to take people visiting STL if you want a nicer place to go to!
